Q. What is hypergenomics?
A. HyperGenomics is a rapid, high-throughput and extremely sensitive diagnostic technology that can be used to uniquely characterize any particular cell, disease or differentiation state using a patented PCR-based method for mapping the open areas of chromatin on a chromosome. HyperGenomics represents the first use of chromosome structure as an indicator of epigenetic status on a global (throughout the genome) scale. The technology can be automated for the highly parallel analysis of thousands of genes in thousands of samples, thus providing a similar type of information to that of DNA chips but in a few hours and at a fraction of the cost.

Q. Can I find out more about GeneICE?
A. ValiPharma Ltd was established to develop cancer therapies using a proprietary technology platform known as GeneICE. GeneICE is a gene-silencing technology which harnesses normal biological processes to prevent the aberrant activity of cancer genes by repackaging specific open areas DNA, resulting in deactivation of the genes present on them. A. All of the cells in the body have all of the genes coding for all the tissue types and organs. However, many genes are specific to certain tissues and cell types and are inactive in other tissues or cell types. Liver genes, for example, may be active in liver cells but inactive or “switched off” in brain cells. Epigenetics is the young science of how, where and when genes are “switched on” (and active) or “switched off” (and inactive) in cells.
